Potion unlock is an open-ended game that relies on participant cooperation in order to reach completion.
Community members must coordinate themselves to reveal their secret. Once a critical number have revealed their secrets, they can be combined to form the Decryption Password which Unlocks the Potion Protocol.
The code base of the entire project has been stored in IPFS, and is currently protected with a strong password. This password has been split into segments of various lengths, and will be distributed across 10,000 unique NFTs, each containing an encrypted segment of the password.
The NFTs are split into different rarities, based on the length of the password that they contain. Some rarities will be freely minted by active Potion Community members and others will be sold via the Potion Unlock Auction.
NFT holders will then be able to claim their secret by decrypting it and revealing it to themselves. The Original NFT minters will have the ability to decrypt password-segments. This power will not be transferrable!
NFT holders can now choose when to validate and publish their secret to the wider community. It will be up to the community find a way to motivate and/or incentivise each NFT holder to do this.
The challenge is considered successful when enough NFT holders publish their secret and reveal the full password. This can then be used to decrypt and release to the public domain the Potion Protocol Source Code.
There are several reasons why we are launching with this model.
Firstly we truly believe in Decentralisation and the benefits that it can bring. We want the Potion Protocol to be decentralized from the start, we call this ‘Agressive Decentralisation’. It ensures that power cannot be concentrated in the hands of the few who refuse to relinquish it for months or even years. As has been the case with the traditional ‘Progressive Decentralisation’ model.
We also want to create a new paradigm for Web3 Projects, development teams currently face significant legal risks for launching and operating such products. Potion Unlock is the result of genuine innovation in both the technical and legal fields that we feel can create a safer and more vibrant environment for Project Teams going forward.
Lastly, we want to see what happens. This is an experiment in decentralised social cooperation, it is open ended and the participants are free to forge their own path to complete it. We believe in the Potion Community and cannot wait to see where you take it.
